Olmsted Hall
Olmsted Hall, officially Olmsted Hall of the Biological Sciences, is an academic building housing natural science classes. The building was built in 1973 to house the newly formed Biology Department. It is still primarily the home of the Biology Department, but is also used by the Biochemistry Program, Chemistry Department, Neuroscience and Behavior Program and Cognitive Science Department.
The first floor hallway has many taxidermy birds left over from the Vassar Natural History Museum.[1] Generally, the north side of the hallway has faculty offices and labs, while the south side has teaching labs. The only traditional classrooms are located at the east side of the building. On the B level there are facilities for animals, as well as a large greenhouse.
When the Bridge for Laboratory Sciences was built in 2016, it connected to the west side of Olmsted to create a continuous science complex.
