Terminology

The building itself is officially called the Students' Building as specified by Mary Babbott Ladd (class of 1908), who funded its construction for the "exclusive needs and interests of student organizations".[1]:46 The All Campus Dining Center (abbreviated as ACDC, which morphed into "Deece") opened within the building in 1973,[2]:56 replacing the earlier system of dining rooms within each dorm. The All Campus Dining Center was renamed Gordon Commons in 2018 following its renovation funded by Ellen Rubin Gordon ’52.[3]
